1.1 PURPOSE
This standard covers the requirements for a laboratory or facility to be acceptable to evaluate the evaporative loss of storage tank seals and devices using the Certified Loss Factor Protocols of API. The standard includes the requirements for equipment used, data handling and submission, and other factors to assure data integrity. Other API standards listed below are incorporated by reference.
1.2 LIMITATIONS
This standard does not address safety or environmental issues that may arise from testing. Compliance with all laws, regulations, and safe practices is the sole responsibility of the laboratory or facility. This standard does not cover financial or business relationships, terms, or fees between the certified testing facility, device manufacturer, and API. For details concerning these issues, contact the API, Measurement Coordination Department.
