Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n 1.1 This test method describes the use of linear controlled-rate-of-loading in three-point bending to determine the elastic modulus of isotropic specimens in the form of rectangular bars using a thermomechanical analyzer (TMA).<\/p>\n Note<\/span> 1\u2014This method is intended to provide results similar to those of Test Methods D790 or D5934 but is performed on a thermomechanical analyzer using smaller test specimens. Until the user demonstrates equivalence, the results of this method shall be considered independent and unrelated to those of Test Methods D790 or D5934.<\/p>\n 1.2 This test method provides a means for determining the elastic modulus within the linear region of the stress-strain curves (see Fig. 1). This test is conducted under isothermal temperature conditions from \u2013<\/span>100 to 300 \u00b0<\/span>C.<\/p>\n 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.<\/p>\n 1.4 There is no ISO standard equivalent to this test method.<\/p>\n 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
