1 Scope<\/b><\/p>\n

1.1 These requirements cover power ventilators of the roof-and wall-mounted types and duct fans of the straight-through type intended for commercial or industrial use, residential fans intended for heated and conditioned air and for connection to permanently installed wiring systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.<\/p>\n

1.2 These requirements also cover dryer exhaust duct power ventilators (DEDPV) for single residential dryers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n

1.2.1 These requirements cover roof or wall-mounted ventilators and duct fans of the straight-through type for restaurant exhaust appliances.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n

1.2.2 These requirements cover power ventilators for restaurant exhaust appliances.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n

1.3 These requirements do not cover the following:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    a)\u00a0Ventilating equipment such as attic, wall-insert, ceiling-insert, household hood, window fans, or canopy fans or blowers;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    b)\u00a0Air-moving equipment with integral air-tempering means;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    c)\u00a0Dryer type fans used for drying carpets or floors;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    d)\u00a0Household and commercial blower inflator type fans;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    e)\u00a0Evaporative coolers; Evaporative cooler pumps, including retrofit pumps;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    f)\u00a0Air filtering appliances;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    g)\u00a0Deodorizers and air fresheners;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  8. \n

    h)\u00a0Component fans;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  9. \n

    i)\u00a0Low voltage component fans;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  10. \n

    j)\u00a0Fans and blowers that circulate air, such as desk, ceiling-suspended, and hassock fans;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  11. \n

    k)\u00a0Ventilators rated more than 600 volts;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  12. \n

    l)\u00a0Ventilators employing universal motors rated more than 250 volts;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  13. \n

    m)\u00a0Air heaters equipped with fans;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  14. \n

    n)\u00a0Draft fans for furnaces;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  15. \n

    o)\u00a0Heating-ventilating units;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  16. \n

    p)\u00a0Blowers employed as components in equipment such as furnaces, mechanical-refrigeration equipment, or air conditioners;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  17. \n

    q)\u00a0Fusible links and similar equipment that may be provided to disconnect a fan or close shutters in the event of fire;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  18. \n

    r)\u00a0Ventilators specifically intended for use in exhausting any of the following: gases other than air, atmospheres causing corrosion to the ventilator, air with water spray, or flammable vapors; or<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  19. \n

    s)\u00a0Ventilators for the removal or conveyance of dust, stock, or refuse.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  20. \n

    t)\u00a0Microwaves, ventilating and otherwise; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  21. \n

    u)\u00a0Ducted and non-ducted heat recovery units.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
