The<br \/>\nconcept raised by this need is that certain specialized services<br \/>\nneed to be offered exclusively to a set of users called a &#034;closed<br \/>\nuser group.&#034;<\/p>\n<p>Typically, the users of such systems might be expected to be<br \/>\nable to access PBX\/CENTREX<sup>TM<\/sup> features in the same way as<br \/>\nthey would on wired PBX\/CENTREX<sup>TM<\/sup> terminals. It is also<br \/>\nexpected that as systems and features designed for closed user<br \/>\ngroups evolve, there will be a need to support other applications,<br \/>\nsuch as those in residences, campuses, sports facilities, etc. It<br \/>\nis further expected that there will be a need to allow subsets of<br \/>\nthe closed user group subscribers to use their handsets on the<br \/>\nmacrocellular network.<\/p>\n<p>This standard provides the minimum specifications for an air<br \/>\ninterface that will support such a closed user group with limited<br \/>\ngeographic capability within a macrocellular service area.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this standard is to provide an air interface<br \/>\nspecification that allows wireless 800 MHz cellular services to be<br \/>\ndelivered to a closed user group.
