This<br \/>\nPart presents an overview of protocol testing and CDPD ATS<br \/>\nmethodology.<\/p>\n<p><i>Basic Interconnection Tests (BITs)<\/i> are used to reduce<br \/>\nthe likelihood that rogue implementations negatively impact the<br \/>\nCDPD infrastructure. A more extensive test capability is provided<br \/>\nby <i>conformance tests<\/i>, which exercise a protocol through<br \/>\nboth its normal and error procedures for all mandatory functions<br \/>\nand stated optional capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The ATSs defined in the following Parts include BIT testing and<br \/>\nselected error scenario testing for CDPD protocols such as DSMA and<br \/>\nMDLP. Testing for performance and stress is beyond the scope of<br \/>\nTIA\/EIA-732.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the tests defined in the following Parts is to<br \/>\nensure that CDPD equipment provides good and fair service to the<br \/>\nusers of CDPD systems.
