The particular features included<br \/>\nfor such description were selected with the following<br \/>\nconsiderations in mind:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The list of features chosen for operational standardization is<br \/>\nrestricted to those features that afford the subscriber an<br \/>\nacceptable degree of control over common call situations. No<br \/>\nattempt is made to &#034;standardize&#034; all of the features that are, may<br \/>\nbe, or could be made available in the wireless industry. The<br \/>\nobjective is to provide subscribers with reasonable comfort and<br \/>\nfamiliarity as they move between systems while not infringing on<br \/>\nthe need of manufacturers and service providers to compete by means<br \/>\nof nonstandard offerings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All selected features can be implemented, in their &#034;standard&#034;<br \/>\nform by MSCs designed to serve smaller markets; i.e., standard<br \/>\nprocedures should not have unduly burdensome memory and processing<br \/>\ncapacity requirements. Individual manufacturers may offer<br \/>\n&#034;enhanced&#034; versions of standard features; however, such<br \/>\nenhancements should not surprise the unsuspecting subscriber by<br \/>\ndeviations from the standard. Feature options should provide<br \/>\nflexibility of the manufacturers&#039; and service providers&#039;<br \/>\nofferings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The features selected provide as much home service provider<br \/>\ncontrol over the feature operation as possible. This is to allow<br \/>\nfor competition between manufacturers and service providers, while<br \/>\nproviding seamless feature operation to the subscribers.
