This document deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances and machines that are encountered by all persons. However, in general, it does not take into account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>children playing with the appliance;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the use of the appliance by very young children;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the use of the appliance by young children without supervision;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>user maintenance by children, including the necessary cleaning of the appliance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is recognized that very vulnerable people may have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE 102 Attention is drawn to the fact that<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>for appliances intended to be used on board ships, additional requirements may be necessary;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>in many countries, additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NOTE 103 This standard does not apply to<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>barbecues for indoor use (IEC 60335-2-9);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>appliances intended to burn charcoal or similar combustible fuels;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>Household and similar electrical appliances.
