This Standard specifies the welding rods (hereafter referred to as "rods") and the welding wires (hereafter referred to as "wires") of aluminium and aluminium alloy used for MIG welding, TIG welding and oxy-acetylene welding.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard is as follows.

ISO 18273 : 2004 Welding consumables – Wire electrodes, wires and rods for welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys – Classification (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEe Guide 21.
