This Standard specifies requirements for black leads and colour leads used for mechanical pencils as specified in JIS S 6013 (hereafter referred to as black leads and colour leads, respectively).

NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO/FDIS 20318-2:2018 Mechanical pencils and leads for general use—Classification, dimensions, quality and test methods—Part 2: Black leads (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
